#ChicagoMusic-Are You’re Ready for PR?

Hey Y’all!

It’s Your Gyrl, Ms. Carmen aka Platinum Voice PR bringing another relevant topic to you!

Time and time again, I’m approached by artists requesting PR services and they are not ready. They only have a twitter account and that’s it or they only have a Facebook account. I have searched for them on Google and Bing and I have found nothing. This alarms me because I have to explain my purpose and why I need them to have certain things in order. At that point, there’s a whole song and dance about how others didn’t say they need this and they just did the campaign. Well, I won’t do what other PR companies are doing. I believe in doing the job right, and with that being said, Read top things needed before seeking a PR company:

1. Your album is completely finished. Doesn’t have to be mixed and mastered, but too many artists start shopping for PR before recording any music. You’re album and at least one video ready from the record should be a week or two away from completion.

2. You have the full budget. Some artists have the misconception that press leads to sales which leads to income, but that’s simply not the case. Make sure you have the money for the full amount of the PR budget so you aren’t left unable to finish a campaign.

3. Your social media assets are ready. It should go without saying, but I still get artists who are ready to roll out a campaign without social media assets. Make sure your website, Facebook fan page, Twitter account, YouTube channel, APPs are up and running.

You never know where I may be bringing you the events of Chicago, so make sure you follow this blog and Follow me on Twitter, @PlatinumVoicePR! If you need your name and craft to buzz out here, go to  Until next time, See ya later Babies!
