Tensions have been high in New York City, following the chokehold death of Eric Garner at the hands of the NYPD, and now, according new reports, two NYPD officers were fatally shot in Brooklyn while sitting in their police cruiser.
The shooting occurred around 3:00 p.m. at the corner of Myrtle and Tompkins avenues in the Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood.
The unidentified shooter approached the vehicle from behind around 3:00 p.m. and opened fire before fleeing into the Myrtle-Willougby G train station with other police officers in pursuit. Witnesses report hearing a gunshot, though it has not been confirmed if police shot the suspect or if he died from self-inflicted wounds.
